Welcome to the Canyon Estate!
It’s hard to say how this happened, but I suppose it’s been in the works for awhile now. We bought our first home in the spring of 2012, and like any good millennial I immediately bought the domain name to match (both to forever be known as The Canyon Estate).
Our life feels like pure chaos most days. We’re in the middle of home remodels and duplex renovations and renting on AirBnb. We also bought the farm this spring, which is where we pretend we know what we’re doing and where the neighbor routinely reminds us we don’t. Our current season of life is like a bad drug. We fall into bed each night cursing our jobs and our home and each other, vowing to sell everything and move back to the city. And we wake up each morning soaking in the view and the calm and the coffee, overwhelmed with gratitude for what we have.
We recently moved from Los Angeles back to the same hometown where we met and were married. I plan to use this space to chronicle our journey in real estate, personal finance, and our attempt at a slow-ish pace of life on the farm.
